New Is Not Always Better Humans have been taught, since the beginning of time, to never settle and always to improve. One of the biggest areas in which this is true is in the area of energy needs. Coal and fossil fuels have been used for a long time and are now considered crude and outdated. Many governments and companies are now searching for cleaner and renewable alternatives such as solar energy, bio-fuels, and wind energy. Although these new sources are great for additives to the energy market, they are in no way a suitable replacement for fossil fuels. All of these types of energy have their own place which is working alongside the other forms of energy. Fossil fuels should not be replaced because they are more improvable, more reliable, and more readily available than most other energy sources. The history of the United States is interwoven with fossil fuels. These sources are what have enabled our country to grow and to be as successful as it has been (Hall 18). It is rare to go around and find anyone without a car in today’s society. One thing that must be noted is how fossil fuels have improved since their beginning. The same fuel that ran through a car in 1940 would be very different than the fuel used today. The point here is their improvability as an energy source.
